What are the advantages of Positive or Negative grounding. Which is preferred for an A?

Your tractor came with pos grnd and when and if you get a new regulator it will be for pos gnd and probably marked such. If you hook it up neg ground you can ruin it.

Way back in the dark ages BEFORE negative ground became the standard Ford and other Pos ground people believed there would be less galvanic corrossion where frame members met at Pos ground. Theres also the thing about spark plug polarity where its easier to emit electtrons from a hotter electrode tip to a relatively cooler ground strap. A genny can still charge at EITHER polarity provided its polarized and ammeter n coil leads need to match your battery polarity.

there are no advantages to ither that i know of just that a farmall A came with positive ground but if you were re doing the tractros system i would advise negative becuase more people know about or are more knowlageable about negative ground
