Well, I got that C. I went down to the house Lastnight about dinner time and told them I'll take it. Well, it was parked out by the road, and I said theres no reason to take it up to your house, I'll come get it when it gets light tomorrow morning. Well, I heard shooting last night and when I went to get the tractor this morning, It had been shot 4 times. Twice through the hood (with exit wounds) and once in the starter and once in the grill. A few days back, someone shot up a grain wagon for sale. Got to go to the junkyard and look for a new starter now. =(

Sounds like it's time for some rural justice I believe I would feel the same about someone shooting at my tractor as I would if they shot at my dog. Wouldn't be good for them either way.

Not a kid, a criminal. First off, I guess you learned don't leave anything out anymore. Second off how close was the tractor to the house? Just imagine a shell ricochetting (SP) off a cast iron part and possibly hitting or killing you or a loved one. I'd be calling the police my friend and be keeping a loaded shotgun in the bedroom closet.

Have your mom read what you wrote, it states on the rare occasion, it does not say if someone were out with a gun they are likely. As I said, do not do this on a public forum. JimN

I know people that would do that. What did it do to you? These guys probally wouldnt just shoot here and there, theyde pick something (starter, lights, tire, oil filter, etc) and shoot it 30 times....Well accually they wouldnt shoot it at all, theyde steal it.

On the rare occasions when I'm walking around with a gun at 2 in the morning, an old tractor is as much of a target as another person.

Lanse, This is direct, but needed. Do not discuss you hunting tactics or targeting on a public forum. We are not your private good buds. Many people do wrong things, and regret it for a very long time. these forums do not get erased. raccoon hunting and other (snipe) type of night excursions should be discussed elsewhere. Please do not shoot at things you are not willing to eat, unless you are on a target range for that purpose. The type of statement you made is inflammatory, and may spark resentment. It is not a good practice. JimN

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I can't figure for the life of me what these knotheads get out of acting this way. Stuff such as that is likely to get them killed over an old tractor. I know for certain if anyone comes by here shooting in my general direction I will unload on them and take my chances in town. I suppose if a starter and a little sheet metal damage is all you have you got off easy, I guess. A well placed round could have done serious damage to the engine or radiator.
