Howdy, boys:
Funny, the posting just down from this one nearly asked what I was going to ask, to wit:
What is the serial number of the first Illinois built stage II Super M? Pat Hamilton gave me that number for the first stage II Super H (19234), but now, since I have one, I would like to know what it is for the Super M. Thanks. mike durhan

No problem, but was going by memory and just now double checked. The gasoline model serial numbers are exact IH information on first ones. On the diesels the closest I found to first number of stage 2 is a IH bulletin stating that when using the remote control hydraulic attachment on SMD or SMDV tractors F 28181 and above that clips are to be used, bolted to side of battery box to hold hydraulic hoses going to rear of tractor. Before stage 2 a metal cover bolted to transmission cover bolts was used over hoses. So 28181 could be the first stage 2 SMD or first SMDV. I can't be sure of a 100% exact # on first diesels. Also no diesels were from Louisville. Don't think any SMV also but not sure about that, can anyone confirm this or not?

My book doesn't show any SMV being made in Louisville.
