I need a photo or drawing of how a temperature gauge should be installed in a 1947 Farmall A. I have a bracket and gauge but the gauge does not fit the bracket. Any help with part numbers or sources would be appreciated.

The gauge is in the attachments section of the A/B Parts Catalog, same page as the shutters.

The bracket goes on the front/top of the governor housing, using one existing bolt and a second one (5/16 x 1/2) in the open hole on the govermor housing. The hole should already be tapped for 5/16. The sender end of the gauge goes into the lower coolant elbow. Tractors without the gauge usually do not have the hole in the elbow but do have a flat place to drill for it. If present, the hole should be threaded to a pipe thread.

I've searched that site thoroughly. If it's there, I'd sure like to know where. I have every manual, service book and parts list that I can find. Several reference the temperature gauge as standard for the distillate engine and optional for the gasoline. But nowhere does it show a picture of where it's installed.

I couldn't find it on the site either. But, it is on page 150 of the Super A parts manual -- if you have an A/AV parts manual it should be there too. But, you may have to drill and tap the part it fits in. Better, repost and ask for Gene Bender -- he can tell you, and may have missed this post.

I have the parts manual that says A & B on the cover. I can"t find the gauge in it anywhere. I"m new to this forum. Can you explain again how to reach Mr. Bender?

The bracket that I have (from OEM Parts) lines up perfectly with one bolt and one untapped hole on the front of the governor. Is this the hole you are referring to? However, the gauge does not line up with the bracket at all.

Is it a universal aftermarket gauge? Or is it a Rochester gauge?

The gauge is a Herschel-Adams, part number 393481RH. It has the IH logo on the face and has a standard 2" case.
