I had the tools in my hand to take the top plate off. There just seems to be so much involved to do that i'm having a hard time getting started. I saw my father's "C" top plate off, but removing my M top plate is a whole different animal! As I mentioned before, the right axle is leaking fluid, especially when it is parked and leaning that way. I am hoping the outside bearing and seal will solve it. What are my chances? I pulled the PTO off as some suggested, NO WAY would I be able to navigate in there with my hands. Guess i'll start by pulling the wheel and replacing that bearing and seal. Is there anything else I can access from the outside and replace that might help this problem?

Post back how it works out for you Carden.

I noticed last time I was home that one of my axle seals is leaking, and I am hoping to just change the seal, not get into changing the bearing at the same time...

But if you do tackle it, take some pictures just for reference, Im wondering how big of a deal it really is to swap one of those out. (Im already soaking all of the wheel nuts so they should be easier to take off.)

Thanks MN. I am planning on doing just that this morning. I hope I have the luck you did Will.

I just did an outer axle seal on my M. The outer bearing was shot and that is what caused the seal to go bad. I managed to pull the bearing out and replace it without pulling the axle.I retreived the balls from the bearing with a magnet. So, I would check the bearing too just to make sure what caused the seal to go out.

The M only has the outer seal to replace. There is no inner seal. Just take your wheel off and polish the rust and paint off the axle and slip the seal holder off the end of the axle. Install a new felt and seal and bolter back together.
