Howdy, boys.

I began participating on this forum two years ago - when I bought a Super A. Several of you told me then that old Farmalls were addictive and that I would end up with several more. "HAW!", thought I. "Not me! Real men need only one small Super A."

Then, I bought a second Super A, (if one is good, two are better, right?). Then, a Super H, stage II. It was for the bush hog - don't you see? So, still, I was in denial.

Two weeks ago, I sold one of the Super A's. Proof there is no addiction here, I thought.

Well, I went to KC,MO last week for a meeting I had to attend, and before I went to the meeting, I ventured up near the Iowa border, and..... well.... uh..... (Gee, honey, I can explain everything.) I accidentally bought this 1953 Super M stage II with beautiful original sheet metal, power steering, a remote valve, donaldson pre-cleaner, flat-back headlites, red/white combination tail light, still 6v, new battery box, excellent grill insert, fresh engine rebuild and what appears to be original paint and decals. Mama Mia! Ay-yi-yi!

As usual, I probably paid too much, but it sure runs great. Does not jump out of gear, steers fine. No whine. No visible leaks. Even the clutch pedal does not have side play. "I be done gone to Farmall Heaven!" (Yeah, my wife, Miss Martha, will see to that.)

Anyway, if Miss Martha does not actually kill me (and she won't), I'm going to leave it in its "faded glory" (chalky pinkish red paint).

You guys were sure right..... . Evidently, I'm hooked.

I'm distressed that you sold a Super A.

I could never do that.

43 and looking.

Hugh: You're absoltely right. I was hooked as a 7-year old "city-boy" in the summer of 1952, the day my eyes fist saw my uncle's bright red Farmall Cub on his Carolina farm. From that moment, I knew I was "a farmall man" and that someday I would have my own farmall(s). mike

Sure, let me see a picture of that hound. I had a 1/2 Walker; 1/2 black and tan. Named him "Rufus". I enjoyed him a lot, until some x!@#*! stole him. mike durhan

Shoot you don't have a problem. Wait till you own one thats orange and then one or 2 thats green and then maybe one that is yellow or all of the above. Yep I own almost at least one of the common ones and if the right one jumps up I'll own more. Right now I'm some place between 25-30

Well I have been called crazy at times and also lucky at times so maybe I fit both. LOL. Theres times that I don't think I have enough tractors. Sure is nice when you have something you need to do and you can just go out and start one up and its ready to go. No unhooking and rehooking equipment

Mike, it does get in your blood. Sounds like a nice old Farmall. You can't have to many. If one breaks down a feller needs a few to fall back on. When I plant or cut hay or whatever, I have a tractor handy for every chore so I don't have to keep changing implements. Mower on one, rake on one , baler on one and a couple sitting around hooked to wagons. See a feller needs plenty of them. Congrats on your new and very needed SM.

Yes. That's it. A tractor for every chore. I'll explain that to Miss Martha. She is a quick study, and surely will understand and get over this little "tizzy" of hers very fast. Great idea, George. Thanks. mike

Mike, as one gets a little older it gets harder and harder to keep swithing the mower, for a cultivator, and back to a mower. It is certainly to hot for all that foolishness. You can't take it or any old rusty money with you in the end, so have a little fun while your here. Tractors are a lot better than horses, they don't eat if you don't ride them.

As long as she puts you in the ground with a model Farmall in your arms. You will at least go a happy man.
