I am looking to replace the rubber hoses between the air cleaner and the carb and aircleaner and vent on a 460U but CaseIH says they are retired. What do you guys do in a case like that? Try to find radiator hose and cut and fit?

I had a similar problem with a 460U. Hose had bends in it. Carter and Grunewald did a dealer search for me and found the "only one in North America" at a dealer just across the border in Canada. In other words the dealer had a NOS part sitting on the shelf for years. Shipping was more than the part cost, but I got the correct part. Any dealer can do that search, provided you can talk them into it, and provided it is in the other dealer's computer -- you might try that.

the part numbers are 369495R1 and 369493R1 naturally they both have bends in them.

That makes it a little more complicated.

Most full service parts stores (not auto zone etc.) have straight hose in various sizes that the sell by foot was able to find sizes to fit A and M. My case IH dealer had the hoses also but found out he bought the hose from NAPA store and cut them to size so I went to source for mine.

Usually whenever an original part is retired, that opens up the doors to the aftermarket suppliers, so you might want to check out the Farmall parts right here on YT. If you can't find anything, radiator hose will work if you can find it in the correct size and configuration. I'll dig through my catalogs later this evening and see what I can find.

Gary, you need to find some fuel transfer hose. The auto parts houses have it, or can get it. Gasoline will destroy a plain old radiator hose, Fuel transfer hose will stand up to contact with fuel and gas.

Rusty is correct very old hoses from before I was born (1949) were not stable in hydrocarbons, new stuff will wor well. You can use the material suggested, but spend much more. JimN

If gasoline could destroy a radiator hose, it would not be used under the hood of a car or on any engine that runs on gasoline.

Well rusty, put a piece of radiator hose on your carb mouth, let her flood, and see what happens.
