O.T Midwest needs rain!

I havent seen it this dry in years! fields wipped out.... beans have like 3 tiny seads per pod. if it wasent for Ample supply last year we might be paying alot more for corn. The only fields around here that look poor to fair (40-70 bshls per acher) are the fields that were old hay fields and have some moisture in them. lots of fields are toast. Get out the chopper and mix it in with some good crop OR blow it right back in the field. We have it better then some do i guess, my neighbors are all gonna get some corn mabey 50 bushels per acher. I still rember the years that they would by-pass huge fields of sweet corn, huge ears of corn put right back into the field as silos were over flowing with chopped sweet corn and you could not give away the sweet corn. OH how times can change. My kids have a false sense when it comes to food supply. My daughter says. "Its ok daddy we live in the land of the pleanty" And i try to rember just how lucky we are living here. How are crops by you? please leave location and best guesstimate of harvest.

Here SE Iowa we are looking decent.

Had a dry spell in late June into mid July but rains returned in time to help.

Hi , Around here in northeast Iowa I can't say it's official but the subsoil moisture seems to be OK and the row crops look decent . We need rain for the hay crops but it's not burned too bad . Overall it seems OK . The problem I'm seeing and have heard about is a fungus on the corn . Not sure what fungus but they are crop dusting daily everywhere . Might be some beans that don't deal well with that spray because I've seen a few fields turn brown after spraying was done near them . Don't know if it's related or not . ...Randy

We were in a drought for ten years but its ended now. Heard we were two feet over rainfall for an average year. I think its rained every day excet maybe eight days for the last two months. The local lake came up over fifteen feet but we sure needed it, was getting serious.

In fact its raining again as I type this. Dark as pitch at 6:10, thunder, and heavy rain.

Farmers are complaining cause of all the rain. Cant get hay off the ground. Fruit is all rotting.

I wonder why there isnt many farmers left? Its either drought or floods and if not that then theres insects and disease.

Eastern WV,corn tasseled out at 3ft some late beans never came up,the pond completly dried up for the first time in 18yrs,We did get 3in of rain a few days ago but to late.Some early corn isnt to bad,My antique tractors dried up so bad I cant keep water in the radiatior

Reality in central MN is incredibly mixed. some have had plenty of moisture through July, some Within a mile or less have had none. The difference is worthless dry sticks 3ft high or perfect tasseled bright green developing corn/ Beaans are the same, dead at 5 inches tall, or perfect. Very interesting. At my house, we have had .1" all july, not good, but dormant grass is not much of a crop. JimN
