If it just died and won't start I would suspect the condensor. I have had more condensors go bad than anything else.

Check to see that you have voltage at the coil, ignition side. If you don't try a hot wire from the battery and see if it starts. If it does then you know the problem is from the coil back if it doesn't then you know its from the coil forward. Dirty points will not spark so you may need to clean the point and or replace them

This 340 is one I was given and the battery was hooked up with a neg ground, so I charged the battery hooked it up with a positive ground (6 volt) and repolarized the voltage reg, is it possible that I screwed up the coil??

Almost no way to mess up the coil by doing that. But the coil does need to be hooked up correctly to get the max spark out of it. If its + ground then the - side of the coil needs to be hooked up to the ignition switch

I didn't change the wiring on the coil, I'll try both the coil and the condensor off my H before I run to the parts store for new ones, Thanks

I would suspect the coil to cause this when it gets hot. If it will start ok when cold then stops after some running is a good indication of a coil. When it stops pull the coil wire from the cap and hold near a good ground while makes an attempt to start the tractor. Need to do this before the coil has a chance to cool. Hal
PS: The condenser would be the cheaper to change first.
