Is it bad to continually run a 15-30 on gas at a tractor show for a parade? Anyone have a picture of how the small gas tank and main fuel tank are supposed to be hooked to the carb??
thanks
Lance

If you have a 29 or newer it has baffles in the manifold torun either gas or Kero. There are two baffles to loosen and switch. one right above the carb and it says gasoline one way and kerosene the other. you switch it to read right side up for the fuel you are using. the other is a round baffle just above the exhaust elbow, same deal with that one, but there is an Arrow<- that you line up for the fuel. If yours doens't have those baffles then it will run ok (older than 29), but it may miss out some and power will be down from what it should be if you run gas. If you run Kero, you need to cover the bottom half of the radiator to get the water good and hot. If you don't the oil will be thinned out by kerosene condensing on the cyl walls. The middle oil check valve is what you use to drain off the kero in the oil, but do it after it sits over night. Drain it to the middle valve and then refill with fresh to the top valve. I used to run my 10-20 on kero so I learned a lot about doing it. I will also say, I got a lot of comments like, what is it running on?.

If worried about lube try a 100/1 2stroke oil mix. IHC used to note 1 cup of motor oil (low ash) to 5 gallons of gas for M, Hs under load. RN

Running on gas in somthing like a parade would be a good idea. If you run on diesel the closest thing to distillate these days your likelly to foul plugs and have to be towed the rest of the parade.

Our neighbor had a 15-30 that he only used for belt work and it ran only on gas. He did custom threshing for a lot of the farmers too. Hal

Nothing wrong with running it on gas. They don't use distillate in them anymore.
