I'm looking at a McCormick W6 tractor with the SN:W624431WI. "it runs drives, good rubber, tin etc".

Can anyone tell me what the "WI" stands for?

What year it was made?

And is $1,500 too much for the price.

thanks

My book says it was built in 1948.

Eric,
I stand corrected, that serial number is indeed a '48 model. I think it's time for bi focals..... ..... ..... ..... ..

My book shows serial # 24431 to be a '43 model. I would say the "W1" is actually "X1", meaning gasoline engine. I'd say $1500 is a fair price.
Hope this helps,

Paul

Went right over me that the 6 belonged with the W.

X is for Row Crops, W is for Standards, Y is for Industrials so W1 is a gas engine, same as X1 is for row crops.

That number doesn't jive with the numbers in my book. One to many. That does sound like a decent price for a good one to me, but I don't know much about the W-6 It shows them only going to 46011.
