Hello Folks. This question is not about tractors but tow behind mowers. Has anyone out there used a tow behind mower like a Swisher mower to cut a field of tall grass? I would appreciate your opinion. Thanks!

Swisher makes a nice 60" mower that will NOT do what you want. It belongs on the lawn, nowhere else. They also make a smaller mower, I think it's 44" or so, and it comes in a "rough cut" version that would mow taller grass.

i have a swisher 60 inch trailing mower, 13.5 hp motor. works real nice, i tow it behind my farmall cub, that has a woods 59 inch belly mower. made an extended swinging drawbar so i can run the swisher in steep ditches and keep the tractor up on the road. snugged up it will cut just under 10 feet of grass in a pass.

Yes, it is a lawn mower and is made to cut grass that is no longer than you would let you lawn grow. I had one for a while to cut a pasture and it worked fine if I cut it every two weeks.

Bush Hog makes a pretty heavy duty tow behind, but the price is heavy duty also.

I saw one of those Bush Hog mower's up in PA in Amish country being towed by 3 big mules. It sounded like a Wiscosin engine that we had on a baler. There was a young boy doing the mowing of corstalks. Hal
