The Nebraska test of the C in 1948 shows that the C engine runs about 1650 RPM. The 140 is 1400 RPM. Some governor adjustment or swapping the governor might be necessary to get full power from the C.

It is the same engine, however there is a difference. The water pump on your Super is on the bottom engine block outlet. The water pump on the 140 is an automotive type built right into fan hub.

Just two weeks ago we had discussion on this, and if my memory serves me correctly there is a threaded hole somewhere in SC block for that setup, and that hole is not drilled in 140 block. It may be head and not block. I've forgotten exactly what this is.

To use the 140 water pump you may find problems with fan matching up to SC shroud and radiator. Not certain, however I do have both 130 and 140, there are differences, I've had both off but never at same time.

I think you best go to a parts book before you get too far into this.

Hugh, I am not sure if he meant C or Super C, but they are a little different. Mostly in CI'c and the water pump as the C has doesn't have one.

Oops. My bad. Forgot about the Supers. That's why they were supers, right?

The 123 engine started with the 100. Not the C.

No it started with the Super C, and the last Super A's also had the 123 in them

No it is not the same. They are quite alike but do have some differences. The C has a 113 CI engine that is cooled by the thermal siphon system which has no water pump. The 140 has a 123 CI engine that has a water pump and a pressurized cooling system. They will fit in either tractor with minor modifications. The 140 engine will fit in your C and have a little more power.
