farmall cub miss

I have a 1948 farmall cub that I restored this past year. The only thing I did not do was rebuild the engine. If I do not turn the gas off and let it run out of gas when I want to shut it off, it will only run on two or three cylinders when I start it back up. If I do run it out of gas to shut it off, it will run like a top when I start it back up. I have had the carb rebuilt twice by an old time farmall mechanic and the mag rebuilt by a very reputable mag mechanic. I am tired of buying new plugs for this tractor everytime this happens. Would a new carb help? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt

You need to pull one plug wire off at a time and see if the engine starts to miss until you find the cylinder that's not firing. You may have a bad plug wire. You could have a valve that's not seating or isn't adjusted with enough clearance. My manual says to set them at .013" cold. Hal
PS: Your plug wires should be from copper wire
when using a mag.
