Had a McCormick model 52 tractor trailer follow me home this weekend. It's just the running gear which appears to be in pretty good shape. Looks like it had a tilt bed on it. Would like to rebuild the bed and sides on it as close as possible to the original. If anybody can post or email some pictures of one, I'd really appreciate it. Also does anybody know about when these would have been made?

The #52 tractor trailer or just plain four-wheel wagon as I would call it, has the channel-style frame rails on each side instead of the center coupling pole. The two I have both are equipped with the pivots for a dump bed on them. I have not seen a factory flat bed, so can't advise you on that. Most of the ones were equipped with the factory metal "barge" style bed where you could remove the sides and ends and have a flat bed. These had the "McCormick" decal on the sides. I built 14 foot wooden flat beds for mine with a hydraulic clyinder for the dump. I have a brochure on the #52, but can't put my hands on it right now. But I believe they were produced in the early 1950's. You'll like it; they are a good wagon.

Thanks for the information. I can't tell what kind of bed this had on it since the only wood remaining on it is a 4x8 beam that's attached on one side of it. Do you know if the hydraulics were an option or were they standard on these wagons?

I'd say it previously had some kind of a wooden flat bed on it with that 4 x 8 runner remaining. I believe the factory bed was entirely made of metal, runners and all. It's been too long since I saw one. On the availabilty of the hoist, again I can't say for sure, but I can tell you that I did buy a hoist one time complete with brackets that had a sticker on it designating it for the model #52. I don't remember right off what brand the hoist is.
