Growing up around Dad and Granddad's tractor shop, I have a lot of various knowledge about Cubs and letter-series tractors, and a little on the '00-'50 series tractors...and not much on the stuff made after about 1958.

I'm curious as to whether IH ever made a 301 block [as in C-301] that was cast/machined for a fuel pump, as the similar BD-220/240/264 truck engines were...and if so, what machines they came in. I'm working on a project truck [L-110], as well as working on details on putting a BG-241 in an H...and the 301 would be for the truck project.

Thanks for any/all helpful info.

Hi, They made these engines in ag, industrial and automotve versions. I don't know much about the differences between them. The460,560,656,666,706,756,856 are the most common ag engines, they didn't use fuel pumps. The 303,403,315,615,715 combines are common ind versions, they used electric pumps. Good luck, Chuck

Ive never seen one with a pump. C-200 has a pump on the side of the block, and thats a 4 cyl replica of the 6 cyl casting, so there is something that can be looked at as a refference. If the block in the truck is still good, why not put the 301 guts in it and not have to worry about it? Chad

Bore on a 301 is bigger than the 264 in the truck...don't know if the truck block will bore that extra 1/8" safely...and last like an International.

I wonder if its the same basic casting? Age of the block may prove difference. A 291 had sleeves right? I bet it would take it. Chad

Don't know about the engine driven pump but you could always add an electric pump. 715 combine had that. And it fed that combine ok.
