I was told to use 80 90 gear lube in my hydraulics of my farmall H. Is this right? What should I use and how much? Its empty.

Good gravy, Marie! Whoever the nutjob was that told you that needs to be severely flogged!

Use CaseIH Hytran. OEM spec is for 30W non-detergent oil, but I dare you to find any.

use whatever oil you use in the engine. i have farmed with these old tractors for the better part of forty years and have never used anything else and have had no problems with foaming or anything else.

The manual says 30w. It"s heavier because the tolerances are not as tight as newer hydraulic systems. If you are using hydraulic implements that you will be using on other tractors, then use Hytrans hydraulic oil. You don"t want to cross contaminate the oil. There is supposed to be a dipstick attached to the filler cap, but may no longer be attached. I can"t tell you how much it takes, check your manual.
