The new replacement rings delivered for my A (purchased though this YT site - with outstanding service I'd like to add).

But none of the new rings are beveled or dotted - just straight cut, (one set is the 'top groove' set) and the oil ring is a simple waffle configuration. Every replacement set I've seen IS beveled or tapered with a specific assembly order.

Any issue with this straight-cut design and experience with the Hastings rings, or change in break-in procedure?

Thank you, Ken

El Toro's idea is correct. If no response, or reaction from Hastings, I would put them on a very flat surface--plate glass-- and carefully determine if there is a cup side to them. If the outer edge has a clearance (paper thin) between the glass and the edge, it is right (top) side up. If it is flipped and that side has some clearance, that side is up. The very slight cup allows sealing on the way up, andscraping on the way down. If there is no difference, I would say either way is fine. JimN

Hi Ken, I would call the Hastings Ring Co. at 1-800-776-1088 and see what they say about their rings. Hal
