I just bought a 240 Utility for a very reasonable price. Other than needing new rear tires, the main problem I’ve found is that the steering is very loose. You can almost turn the steering wheel through 360 degrees without engaging the steering gear box. I’ve searched this site, but haven’t found a good procedure to approach this problem. It has power steering, but the problem is in the basic steering. There is very little slop in the steering linkage going down to the box. I’d really appreciate an overview of what is entailed to approach this problem. Thanks alot!

We evidently don't know too much about it.
With the tractor running, in neuitral and brakes locked (tires blocked) stand beside the tractor and work the steering wheel. watch for the lost motion and side to side wiggle in the shafts comming out of the box. Most often there is a lubrication leak letting Oil out over time. this allows little pins that run in grooves to become worn (grooves as well)
this is possible to repair, but sometimes expensive because special parts may need to be made by a machinist, then hardened. caseih.com has parts diagrams on line, use the start your parts search here button to begin. JimN
