I talked to Brad, and he said he couldn't get the metal tubes anymore. He also said he hoped someone would start making them as he had lots of requests for them.

George,

I called Case after I saw your post and they dont have them anymore either. They list them on their site for five differant lengths but now they are subbing the rubber kind.

Rubber hose kit (with clip) #526274R92. 18" length (90 corrugations) cost 39.54 each.

Guess metal ones are a thing of the past. Wish they were a little long than 18".

Thanks for checking for me.

Call Brad, he will sve you some money. He is a CaseIH parts only dealer. I told him you were wondering about commissions for me and he just laughed at me. Since I get all my parts from him he is the only place I know to recommend to folks looking for stuff.

I'll give him a call but I want to check and see if Sam Adams might have a couple of the metal ones. I have to go pick up a New Idea Transplanter there in the next week or two. You probly know all about those transplanters since you plant tobacco. I have three of them now. Im going to make one complete one and then whats left over I will make one for my cousin and give to him.

PS: Got the plow bolts from Fastenal and got the shovels on the spring tooh cultivators. Painted them black.

I do know a little about transplanters and like the Mechanical brand best. How are you attaching it to your tractor? With fast hitch or drawbar brackets?

The old one we used was rigged up for a draw bar by useing an old bush hog mower blade. It is in pretty bad shape after all the years of use plus the water drum is gone.

The other transplanter I have is still rigged up for horses but that is the one I want to restore. Still has most everything including the water drum but its badly rusted. Boxes are long gone that the plants go in but I can make some of them. Ill add a 4X4 in front and then use some strap metal to make it fit a draw bar.

The one I bought has the water drum and its in good shape. It also has some of the valves I was missing.

I just want to get all the tractor stuff done before I tackle a new project. I get to many things going and it gets frustrating. Im allready behind a year on my projects so no harm in pushing it back some more.

I have gramps's old Beamus transplanter(tobacco setter around here)he bought it new in 46 or 47 and pulled it with a team until 1950 when he bought a new Cub and sold the team. I think it will still work. He parked it in the barn in 1969 or 70 and it hasn't been moved since. He put a short tonque on it so it would work on the Cub. I rode several miles on the water barrel when I was a kid. Was to little to set on it, but like riding the barrel anyhow. We also used it to plant potatoes and other garden crops. When I quit raising tobacco, I may polish it up some. I have a picture or two of it if you want see it send an email and I'll send it to you.
