First off I want to thank the guy that linked me to the Diagrams to wire the tractor. I took appart the wireing and cleaned everything GOOD. I checked it with a multimeter before and after and I am now getting full juce. I bought a Delco alternator and wired it with one wire by the diaram. I hit the starter and it would not turn over fully. So I took off the starter and tore it down. I cleaned it spotless! I put it together and she fired right up!. The ammeter says she is charging, and life is good. We took her around the neighborhood. Now for the Question What hydraulic oil do I use? Here is a pictiure of both of my tractors. Thanks Ron

Use HyTran or an oil that uses HyTran specs. 10W was the recommendation on the earliest tractors, before IH began to sell HyTran. 30W as used in the H and M is considered to be too heavy. You can prevent moisture by draining it occasionally.

I have used 30 weight for years in my C and Super C and never a hydraulic system failure. I also have a book from IH that recommends it during hot weather for Cubs and up. I am not saying it is better by any means, but works fine.

My old book is for a 44 M and it recommended 10 weight for cold weather and then 20 weight for a little warmer weather and 30 for hot weather. My C book says touch control fluid or 10 weight. I use 30 in it too. That seems like a lot of changing though, don't it. I use it because I can carry a quart or two on the tractor with me all the time and can use it for hydraulics or in a engine in a pinch. It is easier to add to tractor in that little can without a funnel. It will make the live pumps whine a little below 35 degrees. Mine are usually parked that time of year, and I just use the 666 or M.

M'self, I bite the bullet and use the Case/NH/IH HyTran, but you can use about any good hydraulic fluid that's good at shedding or not absorbing moisture. I know there's standard codes for that stuff, like there is on motor oil, but I don't know what they are.

Looks like you've got a good start on a collection!

Actually one of the selling points of HyTran has been it ability to absorb mosture from the system. Part of the function of hydraulic oil is to keep water in suspension so that it does not separate and cause rust and corrosion.

I see you are progressing right along. These are not picky about hydraulic oil. Hy-Tran is good or any good equivelent. You can also use AW 32 or even Straight grade non detergent motor oil. I use Non detergent SAE 30 weight in all of my Farmalls except for the 666.
