Hi,

I have a Farmall H that has been converted to a 12v system and I had some questions about wiring. It looks like the rotary switch under the ammeter for the lights has been replaced by an on and off switch. To start the tractor you flip the switch to on and hit the starter. I would like to get it back to the original rotary switch and get the lights to work. Right now the wires from the lights are just dangling. If anyone has a done this with a 12v system I would be interested in any help you could give. I am a visual person, so diagrams are very helpful to me if anybody has any. Do I even need the on/off switch? How does this work with the rotary switch? Does any one know where to buy a switch like this? On a "43 is it a 3 or 4 switch rotary switch? Sorry about all the questions I am just a rookie at this. Thanks for your time

the on off switch for the ignition was a plunger type switch, you pull it out to turn the ignition on. it works independant of the light switch. your h origionally more than likely had a 4 position light switch, l-h-d-b low- high dim brite. low and hi were for the cutout regulator on the generator. the later charging systems used a voltage regulator, the light switch was o-d-b, off dim brite. going to 12 volt, you can use the 3 position light switch.
