Well the 300 that I am restoring is almost finished. Got all the new wiring run today. I need to get tnew lights for it though and am not sure if I should get 6-volt or 12-volt. It is a 6-volt system but has a GM style resistor bar so a 12-volt battery can be used. I am thinking I need 12-volt lights as it had the original 6-volt lights on it still and none of them work. Anybody know what voltage of lights I should order?

The way you have described the tractor, it may not charge the battery. I recommend a Hitachi alternator they are smaller and very robust. If you want to there are 12v delco generators that are direct replacements for the 6v. (you would be using it positive ground, and with a new regulator. The resistor (on the ignition) is needed unless you use a coil rated for no external resistor. Bob M wiring diagrams (search this site) answer a lot of questions) JimN

By all means go 12 volt including lights. I did that with my super H and am very happy. Much easier to find 12 volt batteries and usually cheaper.

If you are using a 12 volt battery, then you need 12 volt lights, they are a lot brighter too.
