I hope you folks have been typing slow since Wednesday as I have a lot of reading to do on this board. Got back late last night from Pleasant Hill Farm Supply, Pleasureville, Kentucky, where I picked up an IH 2001 loader. Hugh, how is the weather down south? Here in SW Wisc. it is most sunny and 83, winds NW @ 10; forecast calls for rain - 60% tonight and 70% Monday. From my drive, we sure have been blessed with good rains and temperatures as the crops and lawns look the best around home. I better get at my reading.

Al, watch out for the wasp's. I went to read once and when I pulled my britches up they were full of them. Didn't take long to get them off right over my boots. The old lady still laughs about it every once in a while. Thought it was funny when I came back in just my boots and a t-shirt. I didn't find much humor in it.

George: I can sympathize, just Fri. night I reached in my rural mail box for the days mail, only to have a swarm of yellow jackets follow my arm right into the car. Since I had it in drive, I tramped the pedal, but they got me 4 times on my fingers and arm. Luckily I had 3 windows down and the air flow soon got rid of them.

I just wonder how the mail man fared. Two years ago We got a call from the Postal Service. I went back at dusk, armed with WD-40. Best hornet, wasp and bee spray I know of. As it turns out we had two visitors to our mail box on Fri. I do feel bad about the mail man, however the guy that leaves that damn junk mail, can't get stung too much. I expect we'll be hearing from the postal folks tomorrow. I'm happy to report the yellow jackets are gone.

It's one thing to leave the mail behind, quite another to show up at the house without your trousers. No telling where the Mrs. may think you have been.

That is one of the very best bug killers. I have waisted many a can of it on wasps and bees. She thought it was quite funny. Still tells folks about it, while laughing the whole time. I had whelps all over my legs and a couple were the sun don't shine.

George: Funny how women think those happenings are so amusing, but let it happen to them. My wife has several such stories, events that happened on the farm over the years.

She gets madder than hell when I tell them on her. It is never as funny when the shoe is on the other foot.

Looks like that fence in front of the outhouse was painted with whitewash. Wasn't that a mixture of lime and water? Hal

Hal: I'd sooner back into the lime than wasps or yellow jackets. Read George's post above.

Al, I haven't been to Pleasant hill in several years. Do they still have a lot of stuff there? I think the other big yard we had in Danville is gone now. It was Coulters salvage.
