I want to make a snow plow frame for my 12V narrow front M. I have a complete Fisher electric plow off a pickup and hope to weld one together. I notice in pictures (the few that I can find) plow support on most H's and M's goes back to the rear axles for pushing. Does anyone have an opinion for me to just fabricate and attach to the frame on either side of the motor? Would it jeopardize the tractor in any way?

Either way will work but having it mounted from the rear axle housings will make for easier removal. Just pull the two pins and the hy hook and its off.

Your idea will work fine. My Super M pushed snow (and occasionally also gravel and dirt...) for 30+ years using a plow frame bolted to the tractor side rails.

Just make sure the plow frame is substantial - mine was welded from 6" channel. Also that bolts into the tapped holes in the bolster casting, and thru the holes in the side rails as far back (as close to the transmission) as possible.
