I was asked a month ago to go look at a Super C that some people wanted off their place. It was parked in the 5 acre field with mudd on the tires and the rake had mud on the tires. I thought it might run. I told them to the right guy it would be worth 500. After a month went by I got a phone call that they were going to cut the C up. I told them I would give them scrap steel price. So I gave them 100.00 and took her home. I cleaned the points, I cleaned the plugs and gapped them at .30 I choked it and hit the starter. It is shot, my luck. So I got out the hand crank and gave it some pulls, Nothing. So I put a battery charger back on and gave it a couple of pulls and BINGO, she started! It will run as long as the charger is on but dies when it is off.
It has a 12 volt alternator, but it is not hooked up. I need to find out how the wires go to get the alternator to keep it alive. Also there is only two wires hanging for the alternator. What do I need to make this right ? Thanks Ron

I am near Twin Falls. This tractor has a coil not a Mag. I started it again and tested the alternator. It is not putting out any charge. Also I tested the wires that hook to the alternator. One has power. I assume it is from the battery (charger) I am going to have to go get a battery and see what I can figure out. I tried the link and it wouldn't work. Any other links to electric help? Thanks. Ron

A good battery will make it run. If it had a mag it would run without one. But the distibutor has to have an external electric source in order to fire where the mag does not.

Cograts, what a deal. Can't help with the wiring, but like Dave said it will run with a good battery on it. Enjoy your tractor, these are great little work horses.

You need a new battery.. they will run with a mag, but if it's not charging, and the battery is shot it won't run. That's why it runs with the battery charger connected. Heckuva deal though. Where are you located, I used to be in St. Maries just south of Lake Cda. Now we are in Austin, Texas

Congrats on your new tractor, you got a good deal. This site might have the instructions for wiring your tractor.

Andy.
