What has to be done to tighten up the distributor shaft, replacement of the whole unit, install new bushings, new shaft and bushings?I have not worked on one of these before and need some advice. This is a 464 I believe. Also I have fire to the points but none to the plugs at all. There is no spark at the points when opening and closing.I filed the points(will replace them, just diagnosing right now)and no spark. When they close there is no fire at the wire going into the distributor either,it ceases.Would this be a bad coil perhaps or is the fire supposed to stop when points are closed? Thanks,Jack(TN).

You can put new shaft and or bushing in it. As for the fire, I suspect your condensor is bad.
