Now we have a Farmall C in our collection. Runs OK - needs a tune up... and a manifold. Decent tires, excellent oil pressure, good tin. Must have water or light oil in the rearend because you have to grind it to get into gear. (not the clutch or pilot bearing because once the gears stop, they don't start moving again with the clutch in).

Some pics of when we picked it up and next to his '42 H:

I have a 50 C myself. My dad had that one when I was born, so it is pretty much part of the family. I use it mostly to cut hay with a #31 sickle mower. With the 7' bar and if it is sharp I can probably cut with about anything, and in small areas I can probably out manuever a lot of the large stuff, and use half the fuel. I know the guys with the big cabbed stuff can't get within 10 ft of a fence row. I still have the cultivators, 2-14 plow, disk, and of course the mower. Used to pull a McCormick #45 baler with the C for many years baling about 60 acres a year. Could be mostly water in the tranny. I had a broken drain plug on mine, and when I finally got it out I drained out a mess of black oil, and water. Transmission sounds much better now with new oil, but I really need to give it another change as I know it had a lot of contaminates left which are in the new oil. Good luck with the C. They are a great little tractor.

Steven, a little trick with the C. Slide the gear shift handle to the right and push forward, which is up ahead of reverse. It acts as a transmission brake. It is not instantaneous but it does help.

Steven, that looks to be in pretty good shape. You will love that thing. They will amaze you with what the little joker will pull. Easy on gas. I run two of them all the time here for all kinds of stuff. I mow lots of hay with them and of course the cultivating. Pull 20 foot wagons loaded with tobacco and hay. Even pull a one row NI corn picker every now and then. Baled lots of hay with them too. It will handle a two bottom plow,7 foot disc,7 foot mower and lots of gadgets. I seen your H and mowers for sale in the classifieds. Thought maybe you were stranded in ND.(ha,ha) Have fun with your C and let us know how you like it. OH, they handle twice as good with the tricycle front end under them. I have an extra if you need it.

That is a neat tractor! I want one to go with my M. Dad had two of them that we worked on the farm back in the early 60's along with the M. Better not tune her up too much as she will give that H all it can handle :)

Nice, looks like an earlier one? It seems like they do like to grind gears unless you use heavy oil in them. I used HY-Tranish fluid in my SC once, big mistake grind-wise. Those Super C decals are good for about 3 hp. If you happen to find a fast hitch for it you will forget where you left those H's, the C is a really sweet tractor if you can find a use for it.

Serial number 60067... does that count? Would be pretty neat if it was a demonstrator...
