Finally finished the 2404. Hope I can post the pic.
It took me 4 months to reach this point. It has a hi/lo trans, 3 pt hitch and power steering. It has the heavy duty front end. It had not run in several years when I got it. Engine was not frozen when I got it but it needed a ring job and head rebuilt. (Yes, I know it is supposed to be yellow.)

Good loker there Hugh.
Yellow maybe for the industrials, actually they would paint them pretty much any color for ya.
All the 2444's came off the 444 line and were painted yellow or whatever over the red.
I am painting my 2444 red as well. all tractors should be red :)

Add the 2500's to the yellow over red paint list. When cleaning ours we found spots it wore off and it was IH red underneath. It is factory paint and stickers so its how it was from day1. Even the inside of hytran filter cover is IH red heh.

The heavy duty front on that looks identical to the 2500's, even the power steering. One big difference is tire size though. The rear tires are much larger on it than that one.

Nice job. I don't know a thing about 2404, are they the right wheels, they look a little small. Doug N

It is an industrial tractor and most came with these small wheels on them. they were sold to golf courses and road departments for mowing.

When I got the tractor it had duals on it. According to my friend who owned the tractor that was the size it came with. It was used on a golf course in Mississippi. They where used a lot by the road dept to mow grass on the roadsides also. I wish it had bigger wheels and tires. Not sure if the expense is justified.

You might be able to find a useable pair of wheels and tires off a combine. I have used them on my 2444. The rim offset moves them in too close to the loader frame to use tire chains but other than that they worked OK. In my case the change was from 14.9 - 24 to 14.9 - 26.

Ok, yeah, that makes sense, golf course and mowing. Might not be too expensive if you are patient and keep your eyes open, one day you might just be in the right spot at the right time. I know it doesn't happen too often for me, but it does happen every once and awhile.

Ya got a nice tractor there, again, nice work. Doug N
