Hello,

I want to hang 4 wheel weights on each wheel of my SM. I was told I need square headed bolts of the SAME length to do this. I seem to think I need long bolts for the first set to go on the wheel, then shorter bolts to hang the rest of the weights to each other. What is the easiest way to do this. Fastenal has square headed bolts that I need. Anybody got a better source?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Fastenal has 3/4 inch Acme threaded rod that works great for wheel weight bolts. It has 6 threads per inch and is a flat top thread so sliding the weights on and off doesn't damage the thread like on other bolts. It costs alittle more than regular threaded rod but it's worth it. Cut it to the right length but be sure to add for the nut on the inside and the nut on the outside if you want to leave the bolts on the tractor. If you cut two of them alittle longer it helps in getting the weights on. I hang 6 weights on with this rod and when the nuts are tight nothing has gone wrong.

Not to contradict Rusty, but I have the first set being slightly longer. If this is for pulling DONT USE BOLTS! There are much easier ways to get weights on and off. Think all thread etc. Go to a pull and you will get A LOT better ideas than IH had.

No pulling. I'm looking for the stock set up for 4 weights per wheel.

Fastenal is as good as any. The first TWO sets of weights are supposed to be installed with the same four bolts, according to my original M parts manual.
