Hey guys I need some advice and a possible diagnosis? I was goofing off with the cultivators the other day, just dragging them through the ground and as I picked them up and headed for the shed I noticed that both the belly lift and rear lift arms that protrude from the box quiver a little when I move them. As a matter of fact when I push the belly control down it lets the arms down smooth until the very last 5-10 inches then it stops and kinda shakes he rest of the way down. While this is happening the arm for the rear lift is quiveriung back and forth????

What's the deal? Are these supposed to act a little erratic if unloaded or is it time for a hydraulic box rebuild?????

Id definatly check the filter. I have a diff tractor but our filter was crushed it was so clogged! The pump just sucked it in some lol. Oh and while your draining it a bit (prob up to 6 gallons or so) you can see what condition the hydro oil is in. If it looks like mud change it. Or if it looks like water is trapped in it (emulsified) this will make it foam and act funney. Ours was a muddy color looking mess. WE drained the entire thing, all belly plugs out, all hydro rams all the way in, even the backhoe reserves. Got 10 gallons out of a 18+ gallon capacity unit. YIKES!

Patrick, are you sure it isn't just low on oil? They will do this when low. Check your oil level then leave the plug out and cycle the lift 10 or 12 times and replace the plug. it should clear up.

I'm pretty sure it isn't. I mean at least I don't think so?..... .I filled it while it was running and moved the rams in and out to ensure it was full.

Is there a filter in it somewhere that could get plugged up?

There is a screen on the left side at the bottom of the unit. It sits directly behind the steering shaft and has 4 bolts in it. You will loose oil when it is removed. It may have a temp sensor in it, if your tractor has the touch control temp gauge.

George: You best read what you wrote again, this is a 100, not a 200 or SC.

Hugh, the wrong stuff just comes out sometimes. That would be funny since the steering shaft is on the other side. I always think Super C on some of this stuff for some reason.

George: Time you bought that offset, what you use is what you get used to.

Hugh, seems all of them I have looked at recently have been junk, with big price tags. I will have to wait until winter and find one at an auction. A local radio station has a call in classifieds show, which I am missing now. I have called in 3 or 4 times saying that I was interested in buying one and the same guy calls every time trying to sell ma a Cub. I explain to him every time that is not what I want, then he proceeds to tell me how much work has been done to it. He only wants 3000 dollars for it. I don't care, I have one Cub now that I don't use. My younger brother is using it this year for his gardening. I will find one that suits me for a price that suits me with a little patience.

I know just what you are talking about. It has the little temperature probe screwed in but the guage is gone. Do you think it would cause this if it were plugged up????

Not sure, but it could I guess. It sounds to me like you have air or low on oil though. Check your oil level first then pull the screen if it is full. Be sure to get something to catch the oil in.
