julie, the cub is a handy little tractor, and real popular with collectors. it makes a good mowing tractor, good on fuel, easy to drive. its only about 10 horse power or so. good for hauling firewood in a cart, or tending a garden if you have the attachments. i have a 5 ft belly mower under mine, and also tow a 5 ft trailing mower with it too. heres a couple pics of mine, third party image

Julie, it is a small one row, row crop tractor that was sold to small acreage tobacco and vegetable farmers It can be fitted with a variety of implements. One bottom plow, disc, blade, one row cultivator, cycle mower, belly mower, planter and fertilizer unit. Maybe a few more implements as well. I have a 50 model that my grandpa bought new. I don't use it much, to small for me. It is cute as a bug though. Parts are available for it from several sources including IH. I should say CaseIH. If it was your dads you should keep it and cherish it. My grandpa thought his Cub was the cats meow. He replaced a team of horses with it. If you need help on it there is lots of folks here with lots of knowledge on just about any part of it. Good luck.

You have a early 1949 Cub going by the serial number.

What you have is an early Farmall cub, probably 1949. Theres a Cub page on this site that will give you a lot of info on it. Link
