I have one of the front spindles worn badly on my 49 M narrow front. Is there a way to replace the spindle or will it have to be built up and then turned down? If so,Can this be done free hand or will it have to be done on a lathe?

Get a used one, the boneyard by us gets $40...lets to the math at >$60/hr for machine work...unless you HAVE to have the original lower bolster get a used one. (ps - I have been looking for a new one for my SMTA. I think I am going with a 560 bolster, I hear they are lighter)

Jim, "righteous" reminds me of when I first started into electrical work. We were changing out 2X4 foot ceiling light fixtures "troffers". The forman told us to handle the ceiling tiles with clean hands and a pure heart. Later he came back and said, especially with clean hands. David.

It needs to be righteous. To do that will require machine tools. Alignment and concentricity must be within ).0002 for the parts to live very long. New or used may be cheaper. JimN
