Morning fellas, I recently bought a grill insert for my H from OEM tractor parts. When I tried it on the tractor it doesn't look like it fits right. Did the original ones fit in the grill flush or where they more like a cover. I've looked at lots of Hs on the tractor photos and they look like the're a flush fit. Does anyone have any experience dealing with OEM, this is my first purchase. Should I try to trim it to fit flush or send it back. I was assuming it would be the same as an original but I have never seen one, that must have been the first thing that fell off the tractor. Thanks alot PUTTER

I had the exact same problem with the one I ordered from OEM. I sent it back and found an original in a boneyard that fit perfectly.

I agree with gene. There are problems with a lot of OEM's parts. They can be made to work with a little effort, but are not "out of the box" bolts ons. I have never bought a part from them that fit perfectly, and I continue to buy because they are the only source for certain parts -- but not grille inserts.

I'm not saying this is the case but, if your grille has been damaged even slightly, the new OEM insert may not fit perfectly. I've had good luck with aftermarket inserts fitting correctly though sometimes I've had to re-contour them to get them to fit flush.

They don't fall of the tractor. Several old implements for these used a steering arm that bolted to the steering shaft in the front of the tractor. The insert was likely removed for that purpose and just never put back on.

send it back as it fits flush and tell them there are a lot of complaints about them and their parts being wrong and not fitting.

On my H the insert was flush with the grill. It seemed to be the original insert.
