Hello All.

So I am actually able to start tinkering with my tractor, and one of the things that I am starting with is the seat. (Yes, I have other more pressing issues, but it was rainy, the tractor is outside, and the seat can come in out of the rain...)

After getting things apart, I realized that the shock is completely shot on the seat, it has no resistance either direction anymore. I think in part because whoever put it on prevously didnt put any of the rubber bits on the bottom, and just tightened the nut all the way up... So, it was overextended for much of its life, and just wore out.

I ordered a new shock from TSC, but I wanted to know about the rubber parts that go at the bottom. Does anyone know what they are supposed to look like or have dimensions? I wanted to ask now before I make a special trip to the dealer to try to order those parts. They wanted $72 just for the shock! (Its the 9 1/2" one with bushings at the top and a stud at the bottom)

If I can just use something from the local hardware store thats about the same size, that would be great. Thanks in advance for your help!

~Bug

Thanks for the replies and #'s to call everyone, its much appreciated.

I already got the bushings from Marshall's, or at least some of them. I bought four, two for the top of the shock, and two for the seat pivot pin. And I picked up the shock itself from Tractor Supply. (Special order, but I believe its from TISCO. I was going to get it from my local TEMCO dealer, but that was a trip in the opposite direction)

So I was just curious about the ones on the bottom, but it sounds like I can just make it up as I go along?
Thanks once again for the help folks! Im sure Ill have another question for everyone before too long....

You can get a shock on eBay for $30.00 with the rubber bushings for the shock included. If you need the other rubber washers, they are on eBay for around $7.00.

I went to my local body shop. They have a bin there with hundreds of new/used/leftover shock bushings. Get a pair close to the shock stud diameter and dress them up with a belt or wheel sander.

Call 1-888-824-0544. Ask for Brad. He has all parts for these in stock. He is also reasonable on his prices. OEM sells the shocks for 36 dollars.
