The only paint that I think will hold up because of alcohol they put in the gas where I live (CT) would be Dupont 615+620 primer and Imron topcoat. I haven't tried it with the new gas yet but I have put dried Imron paint into brake fluid as a test and it held up ok.

Clean the carburetor real good inside and out and put in a kit. Make sure the carburetor is adjusted. Use high quality gaskets, or the fuel may leak. Clean out the fuel screen in the carb. You should bead blast the carb, and paint it IH red, there is no need for primer or coatings.

The carb is supposed to be red. Turned up carb? More power? They only go so far, then they are too rich, leading to carbon deposits, etc. Adjust it to specs.
