I know where there is a stage 1 super m a few miles from my house....It has a swartz wide front 9 speed tranny and non correct fenders. NONE if the TIRES can be USED. The rims are probally shot also on the rears. there is green moss growing on the engine block but the engine oil is black and there is no cracks on the block. I really really hate to see it sit there any longer.....I don;t know what to offer him as he wont give me a price. the guy hares farmalls as he has jd's that are from the same time that he kept going. it has a rain cap but it has been sitting out for 12 years and has some grass growing under it. I could take the tires off my H and put them on the m to get it back on its feet. The H im talking about has M size tires on it so it would work good. the tranny still shifts. Would 400 be a insult or a fair offer? The engine will need to be compleatly over hauled, but it ran perfect last time it run. Any thoughs are greatly appreacaited.

GO FOR IT!! i"m helping the neighbor get a regular M with a 9 speed going. the engne on that is stuck though and we might just put a used running one in from the bone-yard. it"s worth $400. neighbor got his for $100 but that was from his brother. it"s not that hard to find used tires for an M.
i say go for it
if the engine is stuck and you don"t wanna screw around with the engine AND if you live near downing WI they will sell you a RUNNING engine for an M for $650.
just my 2 cents

Make sure it is not stuck. Rain caps are worthless in a strong wind and rain. Otherwise the only thing of value on it is the 9 speed, provided it works or can be repaired. If not I would say forget it, unless you are the President of a Farmall rescue service. It will cost a LOT of money to restore if that is what you have in mind.

she is locked tighter then tight. The rain cap still lets water in.

If you rebuild the engine you spend around 550, put tires and rims another 500 if you find used ones, you will most likely have to buy a water pump, good chance the gas tank needs boiled and relined, you can bet the front end will need work, good chance the clutch will be rusted to the flywheel, maybe a radiator repair. My thinking is it weighs about 2 3/4 ton, value about 150 bucks. Just my 2 cents worth

I figure since it isn"t running and will need a little tlc to get going, but probably not much as they"ll practically run on 1 or 2 cylinders and the fact that it will need new tires and that it"s been dormant for 12 years, 400 is most likely not an insult and probably a pretty good deal for you at the same time.

Johnnny, Johnnny, Johnnnny: You are certainly an adventuresome fellow and you sure seem to have the knack for finding tractors. I admire your "spunk". I'd say you are pretty close at $400. Maybe anywhere from $400 to $700.

I saw a stage 1 SM on ebay sell for $700 3 weeks ago with a narrow front and no 9-speed. Did not run, but engine was free. Rusty brown in color. But.... that was ebay and folks kind of go crazy on there sometimes. Hope this helps. mike
