Tractor starts with 20lbs of oil pressure. As tractor heats up pressure slowly drops to 5lbs or less. I checked oilpump pickup, its ok. Any and all info would help.

The cover on the oil pump is warped allowing the gasket to blow out.

my super c has same problem so i asked a retired farmall mechanic what he would do. his answer was to put a piece of tape over the oil pressure gauge. he said low oil pressure isnt a problem just never let it sit at low idle for long and the tractor will run forever.

Thomas, before I spent any money, I would pull the valve cover and see how well oil is getting up top. This is pretty much normal for lots of old Farmalls. Especially during hot weather. The 20 pounds cold would concern me more than 5 hot. In most cases if a Farmall has 5 to 7 pounds of oil pressure after warming to operating temp, it is fine. I ran my C for 21 years and it never held over 5 pounds hot. Dads old M jumps 60 tp 70 pounds when first started, then drops to around 15 after warming. The things Dave told you may help, but may not be necessary. Could even be a faulty gauge.

Worn bearings are most likely part of the cause. Worn oil pump is part of it also. You need to drop the oil pan again and remove the bottom plate of the oil pump. This plate will be worn or warped. Their is a very thin gasket there so be careful. You can machine this plate flat again or replace it. The last plate I got from the dealer was $100 or so. Others tell of sanding this on a paine of glass with very fine sandpaper. You should also replace the pressure relief spring and plunger. This should get you oil pressure back to an acceptable level.
