Find the casting codes. Here is an example of a casting code: 1-10-J, the letter at the end is the code for the year. Casting codes are usually stamped on the engine, clutch housing front end and other places.

On the A and B, the engine serial matches the chassis serial except for the last 19000 or so produced. I believe the ones on the H are about the same. Some of the other models are close but not exact. All have cast in codes in the form of 1*8*I on at least the major castings. The * looks like a screw. 1*8*I is Jan 8, 1939. Years and letters ran consecutively except tha V was not used (or very rarely) and both U and W were used in 1951. The last letter series, actually Super series were built in 1954, which is Z. Then the sequence started over with A. Tractors assembled in Jan, Feb or March can have current and previous year codes, but were assembled in the year of the latest code.
