Farmall h main drive shaft removal HELP

Can anyone tell me if the main drive shaft assemble can be removed without taking off top of the transmission or the belt pully and if possible does the tractor have to be in gear.THANKS .

I just pulled one off an M, and no, I don't think it can be done without taking off the cover.

i cant get in my little brain what your talking about do you mean the shaft between the clutch and the transmission?
