Spark Plug Thread Spec

I want to purchase a compression tester for my '49 SA and my '51 H. The Champion spark plug book shows that the thread on their recommended plug, RD18Y, is 18mm. I find that hard to believe because metric threads were not utilized back in those years. The only tester I can find has 14mm and 18mm threads. I want the screw-in type fo tester so that I can leave it in the cylinder when I crank the engine.

Does anybody have an H under restoration? If so, would you mind checking the plug thread to see if it really is 18mm rather than an SAE thread?

Thanks for the help.

They had 14mm back in the 1940's. !949 & 1950 Fords both used H10 Champion plugs and I use the same plug in old Toro mower today. Hal
