Well I hope someone can help me. I am in the process of changing a manual steer box to a power steering one. I got all the parts needed from a parts tractor. The problem I am having is that the pitman arm on the right side was gone, so when I took off the old box, I took off the tie rod from the left side at the tie rod, but the right side I took off the pitman arm off at the box. I did not move the tires and the tractor hasn't moved. Both arms are the same lentgh. Prblems is that when I installed the pitman arm on the right side of the box, it turns more to the left than the right. What do I do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated

ny dave; Did you have any of the gear box disassembled? If you did the gear shaft and the lever shaft may be out of time. If no disassembly then you may be off one or two splines on the steering arms. Find a reference point that is the same on both sides of the tractor, and measure from that point to the back side of the steering arm on both sides. I'm working from my 330 Utility book but they have a lot of similarities with the 300. I'd suggest getting I&T manual IH-10 for your tractor. LE

My 300u has power steering, but I think it has a gear box from a 340/460 on it. If you do not get any other help, let me know and I will measure on mine and you can try my measurements on yours, they "may?" work.
