JUST GOT A FARMALL SUPER M. TRACTOR WAS FREE AND HAS NEW TIRES ON IT SO I JUMPED ALL OVER IT. GOT IT TO THE HOUSE AND REALIZED THAT IN THE LAST 5 YEARS THAT IT HAS BEEN SITTING AND GROWING WEEDS THAT SOMEONE OVER LOOKED TO PUT A OLD TIN CAN OVER THE EXHAUST PIPE. THERE WAS MORE WATER IN THE OIL PAN THAN THERE WAS OIL AND WATER IN THE OIL BATH. THE MOTOR IS FROZE UP AND I HAVE PULLED THE PLUGS AND FILLED THE CYLINDERS WITH MARVEL MYSTERY OIL. I HOPE I CAN BREAK IT LOOSE. SOMEONE HAS TRIED TO BREAK IT LOOSE WITH A STILSON WRENCH OR AT LEAST THATS WHAT THE MARKS ON THE CRANKSHAFT WOULD INDICATE HA HA. OTHER THAN THE NORMAL PEELING OF PAINT THE SHEETMETAL IS IN GOOD SHAPE AND THE STEERING IS PRETTY TIGHT. IT EVEN HAS THE AFTERMARKET 3-POINT HITCH ON IT. ANYWAY SORRY FOR THE NOVEL, I'VE BEEN WANTING A PROJECT FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS NOW AND FINALLY FOUND ONE, HOPE I WANT WHAT I GOT. ANY ADVICE OR STORIES WOULD BE WONDERFULL. THANKS IN ADVANCE

I few years back I bought a 10-20 that sat outside for many many years (estimated as many as 30-40 years). Stuck bad but in only 2 of the cyls. I tried a few things that didn't work like soaking and others and finally pulled the head off. I was glad I did! If I would have gotten the crank to turn, I would have destroyed the valve train as all valves were stuck tight as drums. heating with a torch, took 3 hours to get them out. as for the pistons, I took a small 1x2 block of ash wood and taper cut one end and gently tapped the piston edges on the left and right side (not above the wrist pins)until the piston started rocking, put just a little kero on the piston top and kept doing it and cleaning out the crud the kero brought up,until it turned. Took just a few hours! Those cyls had been wet for so long you couldn't tell where piston stopped and sleeve began, totally sealed up with rust. Some how I managed to save the sleaves and pistons!

Elvin, You might as well just make up your mind to tear into this engine. At least pull the head so a better visual inspection can be done. Then IMO the easiest way to unstick this engine is to set a fire in each cylinder that is sureenough rusty.
To do this remove the pan, loosen and remove the rod caps then, One at a time pour Diesel in a cylinder add a splash of gas set it on fire, wait till it burns itself out then drive, jack the piston out from the bottom. Now you can really tell if the piston/sleeves can be saved or new ones are needed. As usual be safety conscience get all flammables away, roll tractor outside, etc, etc.
Later,
John A.

unless you get a murical(bad spelling) you will need to compleatly go thru the engine. new sleaves ,pistons valves replaced/ground check the oil pump lifters cam all the good stuff. but for free ..... you can spend 1000 on the engine and still have a great deal. hopefully the rear end isent full of water to. it will be a good project to keep you busy no doubt.
