I have a Farmall 340 that I need to take the hood tin off of. How do you get the air precleaner off the inlet pipe that goes thru the hood?

Thanks!
Gary

Ok, I got it off. Used a hammer around it and it came of without too much trouble. Thanks for the replies.

The plastic cup has a chunk missing from it though. Does anyone have that part or a whole pre cleaner they want to part with?

Thanks
Gary

If you are talking about the plastic cyclone bowl and associated metal parts, it was pushed on by hand. You should be able to pull it off the same way. If not you will have to use a persuader and maybe a block of wood. I have several pre-cleaners and have not had a problem. I got into some brush the other day and a small branch lifted my pre-cleaner.

This one looks like it was pressed on. The metal part of it looks like pot metal or cast aluminum and is very tight on the pipe. I wonder if a little heat might help?

Thanks for your help.

Use a firm twisting/lifting motion to break it free and work it off.

There is no doubt that it was just put on there by hand. It's an aftermarket precleaner, and they certainly didn't haul the tractor to a machine shop to have the precleaner pressed on :)

More than likely, there's been a little corrosion between the pot metal (maybe aluminum?) and the pressed steel air cleaner standpipe.
