Sorry about the OT post, but I think this is about the most helpful forum on YT. I always get good advice and answers from you guys on the IH board.

I bought a gooseneck trailer off ebay the other day. I'm not sure what kind of feedback to give. I don't feel the trailer was represented properly. The description was vague and I now know to be inaccurate. Outright lies, actually. Put it this way, I would not have bought it had I looked at it before I bid. I didn't catch it with enought time left to do so, so I went with the man's word. I know, I know, stupid. I can make a trailer out of it yet, I think, and still come out financially ok. But, its goning to take alot of work. Paint, brakes, and a new deck is what it needs. The seller asked me to leave positive feedback as this was his first sale as a seller and he would be putting more items on over the next few month's. I'm not sure I want to let positive feedback. I feel like I got took a little on the deal. What would you guys do?

It is sellers like him that give a bad name to those who represent their items truthfully on ebay. Give him the feedback he has earned.

I wouldn't give him any positive feedback. I would tell him you think you were lied to about the trailer and misrepresented the condition of the trailer. He will then get his act together to be truthful. Hal

Well when it comes to ebay i always leave good feedback evenif im not happy..... AS it is my own fault that i bid. I mantaine a 100% feedback score under "jonnnny2006" I have bought 4 tractors off ebay and been happy every time. even if i wasent happy i would not leave neg feedback as they will just hurt my feedback. if he already left you good well tell it like it is..... but before you do any neg feedback TALK TO HIM FIRST. but people who just have 1 score can easyly change there screenname and start over....I have seen it done. Ebay does make it hard as the can by not letting you use ANY of the same info under a diffrent name. Right down to the email address and phone number., But criminals and people who really wanna "start over " will find a way. Thats the "EBAY" "game". good luck!

It's hard to win the "feedback game" by "going first". If you leave feedback, and "tell it like it is", he'll probably simply "ding you back".

However, you are under NO obligation to leave ANY feedback, and that is ALWAYS the treatment folks get who ASK or DEMAND I leave feedaback.

Well, thats kind of the good part. He left positive feedback for me today! I don't suppose he'll give me any kind of partial repayment. I don't think he plans to make a living off the site or anything. I wish I could get a hold of the back bidder. Maybe he looked at it and would be glad to give what I did. I'd sell it to him in a heartbeat. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, you know.

I"d suggest telling the seller what you think and give him a chance to make some adjustment. If he doesn"t, you should warn others by giving him a negative. You"re in the driver"s seat because he"s already left you feedback.

tell the truth. dont let someone else get stuck like you did. discuss it with the seller and tell him how you fell. ask for a partial rebate.

I would try to be honest. I left positive feedback once before I examined the merchandise. Wish now I had waited and posted the truth. I worry someone else will get suckered in by this seller.
