450 serial suffix

I found a 450 LP serial number 12634CS L.The L is located kinda above the S.I know the C is propane Standard altitude The S is TA with IPTO provision but what is the L.It is stamped with the same size and style stamp

Guy's book says L is high altitude cylinder head. Seems redundant on a factory LPG tractor, since the "propane" head is standard anyway.

Look in the front of a 450 parts book at the introduction pages. It will tell you the correct answer.

The L was after model # of tractor and indicated it to be a LP fueled engine. Like the diesel engine tractors have a D there.

I think I gave you M info instead of 450 info. In that case my 450 book doesn't even show the L. Were any 450's built in Louisville. That is all I can think of.

Just guessing, but the L should mean 5000 foot pistons with high speed 4th gear and low low gear. This makes it a rare bird. Those low gears are worth a small fortune to pullers.
