I have a 64 806 that needs some attention. The 3pt will only lower to the half way position. It operates fine from raised to half way. I removed the drop valve seat assembly with the engine off and the hitch lowered to the ground on its own. Is this the valve to replace or should I be looking at replacing the unloading valve under the seat or the relief valve next to the unloading valves? Any ideas?

This is to simple but is your draft lever pulled all the way to the top ? If so lower it some .

You"d be having other problems not related to lowering the hitch if your unloading valve or relief valve were acting up. Like the guys said, start out by removing the top link bracket, looking inside the case, and making sure that the draft control is as it should be. Then, warm the hyd. oil up good and follow the entire hitch adjustment procedure exactly step by step in order all of the way through. Do not skip over a single step. If it still does not work, let us know.

I did try this adjustment but it did not change anything. I have adjusted everything in the book except the draft control arm. Could this have anything to do with the problem or where else should I be looking? Thanks!

I suspect Allen is right on this one as most of the time it is a draft sensing problem. Adjust the draft. It should fix your problem.

I have never understood the human trait that sees "hydraulic" and automatically goes to "replace stuck valve" when something is going south.

'Tis almost never the case. :>)

Check your sensing arm linkage in thru the center link boss. Bet it has come off.

I thought the human trait that sees "hydraulic" automatically went to "change the fluid" when something stops working. When has that ever fixed the problem?

When changing fluid ya also change the filter and a pluged filter can cause lots of problems and if your fluid has turned to goo it cant pass through the filter , somtimes it is the problem with these 40-50 yr. old tractors that have sleep outside most of there lives .

Try adjusting the valve first, loosen the 1 1/8 inch lock nut and turn the valve (outer slots) in 1/2 turn. If this doesn"t do the trick then I suggest you use a manual and go through all the adjustments. The cage valve hardly ever has to be replaced.
