I just purchased my first Farmall tractor and am as excited as ever to get started restoring it. I have some questions though that I hope someone can answer.

* The tachometer housing - is it possible to buy a cover to go over top of this or should I go out and buy a tach (which I really want to do) How does the tach fit into this space though because from pictures the tach is round and this hole is oval.

* On the control panel I am missing every control minus the choke cable and the key ignition. What are supposed to be in the three other holes I have yet to fill. If you could, could you explain this so I know which parts to buy.

I have a service manual on its way but I am really anxious to get started.

Yes you can find a cover for tach hole. If the 3 holes are on same level as choke and switch they were for fuse holder and button, light switch and optional cigarette lighter. If its the 3 big holes above empty its the gages missing as other poster said. Extra bracket is used between tach and instrument cover when mounting. Also if going to use tach you should check to make sure all parts are there to drive tach cable at distributor drive housing. Lot of times the tach cable drive gear will be missing some teeth.

They hole for the tach is oval because the tach sets in there at an upward angle thus the hole has to be oval for the round tach to sit at an angle.

Gauges missing are amp, temp and oil pressure I believe.

Amp in left hole. Temp in the middle. Oil in the right hole.
