Put in 2 long days putting together the H rear end and tranny. Typical problems here and there but nothing major, dummy me forgot to put on the C clip on the upper shaft so that came back apart, but no big deal. Got the wheels back on, the brake drums and pedals, steering post and gas tank bolted down, PTO cleaned up and put on, Belt pulley housing cleaned up and put on (that was a MESS!!!)New gear oil put in and a few more things, but I am flat too tired to remember them right now. It is starting to look like a tractor. If the new brake bands come in tomorrow, I hope to have it DONE! Can't wait!!!!Whew, too tired to shower, I guess I will sleep on the floor!

Yes it is Thomas! I would have gotten a lot further on it today, but rain hit last night and there is a mucky mud puddle right below the clutch opening where about the last thing I need to do is put the clutch parts and belly pump back in. Tonight it is pouring out there so it will be at least monday.

Maybe you will get that thing going before snow. Sounds like it is coming along. I don't know what we will cook beans or crawdads in now though.

Never fear my good man! I have two small iron cooking kettles and can get a big rendering kettle with a phone call! We cooked a ton of beans in the big one for last super bowl. Froze our butts off , but it was worth it. As far as a Farmall bean pot goes, I have a 41 H frame sitting on my trailer could make one out of. But I got to thinking, that red paint inside the housing I bet is chuck full of lead! Where in KY do you live George?

Nothing make beans like a lard kettle. I have a big one that belonged to gramps, I also have his sausage grinder and lard press, I still use them some. It would be a large number to know how many hogs have been through these. When I was a kid we killed 20 to 25 every year on Thankgiving day. I am from Winchester, Ky it is about 20 miles from Lexington right down I-64. I actually live in another county now, but barely. My place is on the county line of Clark, Mongomery and powell county. I grew up here in a community called Indian Old Fields. It was at one time a big gathering place for Indians. It is my understanding that they had a trading post and gathered here for hunting trips.

I used to go out with a girl who's Grandpa lived in Winchester or at least near there. Not sure what his name was now, but he grew a lot of terrbakky. Thier whole family From the Indy area would go down there at harvest and she spent countless hours stripping. That didn't sound good!(the guys from up north are chuckling now!) She was from "Rabbit Hash" KY originally. I grew up on what is the north side of Indianapolis between Nora and Allisonville. the house I was born in was a log cabin and ayt one time was a trading post between Indianapolis and Noblesville, IN on White river. The cabin is now in a pioneer museum. We found tons of artifacts along the river over the years. A few Indian skeletons also! Also found several village sites most likely from prior to the 1700s. neat place to grow up as a kid, but it is all gone now, bulldozed for apartments, condos, malls. Just the river is left as it was.

Times sure have changed and not for the better in my opinion. I have been to the store at Rabbit Hash. It is a monument in Ky. Lots of tobacco around Winchester, but all the warehouses are gone. Houses are everywhere. We had a log house that drunks burned about 20 years ago. Was built with hand hewn oak logs in 1831 and was in good shape until the drunks hit. My great grand daddy still farmed with horses until his last team died in 71 he lived until 77 and never farmed again after those horses died. When we were kids we played cowboy's and indians around that old house all the time. I miss the old days.
