You had asked about photos of all the junk Farmalls on my neighbors place, well I just learned how to post photos!!! And it worked!

I'll try to take a few photos this weekend.

did you see the post on here where the folks found an old M hidden in a brushpile on land they bought? Man talk about hitting the lottery!!

We got our first letter from our recruit. He started out by saying "this place is worse than prison" He also said two recruits from another division ran away, they were found at a nearby Mcdonalds. Bet they are in trouble!!

See you, Gene

GeneMo Tell that recruit to hang right in there it will get better boot camp is desighned that way. I loved every thing about it except all that running. If I could go back I would stay long enough to get that retirement check at 38 years old. Tell him we really appreciate his contribution to his country. Hope that silly war is over soon and he doesnt have to go. Our prayers are with him. God Bless.

Thanks for your comments. Andrew is completing his 3rd week at Great Lakes. Sounds like he is going to make it. Andrew just didn't know what he wanted to do. He tried junior college for 3 weeks. Had lots of dead end jobs. Ran with some kids who were never going to go anywhere, but to jail. The Navy is going to be the best thing that ever happened to him, if he will just play his cards right. He is a good kid and will make out just fine in the end.

MikeCA and I have been talking back and forth. Two common intrests, Farmalls and the Navy. Pretty neat place, this forum.

Thanks again, Gene

I am a army man but that dont matter. This will be good for him. My brother served 4 years on the U.S.S. Saratoga I think they have retired her but she was a magnificent ship. I wish they would put the Missouri back to sea if for no other reason than her gloreous service. It is a shame for these ships to set. I would love to see the Mighty Mo but I will never go to Hawaii.take care

I had the treat when several of the Iowa class battleships were in service following the Reagan years to see one on Puget Sound in Washington state. I was out salmon fishing one morning when it was either leaving or coming into Bremerton Naval yard. Probably less then a mile away it was a beautiful site as it set very low in the water. I also was on the Missouri when it was in the moth ball fleet there as well. Around 1986 or so the New Jersey was at dock in Seattle and the wife heard about it and came and picked me up at Boeing one afternoon and we went aboard that one as well. The crew members I spoke too thought they were serving on a legend and very proud to be a crew member on the ship. Nice memories and thanks for the post as those were all special moments, Hal.
